Okay so I want to redecorate my room. I want to use black and white with red items in the room to add some colour.
My question is, would black possibly make the room look too dark?
It has one window which is about a metre by a metre. the room is about 3 metres by 4 metres in size but about 1 metre by 1 metre in the corner of the room doesnt get any light at all.

It depends how much black you use. I can't imagine it would be that dark if you had white and red to balance it. Before you actually do it, get some samples and put them next to each other to see what you think.

i am no interior designer but yes, i would think black walls would make a room look dark, unless you put the light on that is

It depends on how much black you use, and where.

Black will make the room look dark.
Black by definition is dark.
But what's wrong with dark? If you put something noteworthy in a dark space is stands out even more. Ever notice what color fabric they use as a background for diamonds?

Hmm yeah, that is a good point. I just dont want it to look overly dark. Maybe one wall black or something like that? That could work. Apart from the room not being square anyway. Hmm. Maybe putting black on the wall where the window is could work?

Try using black curtains, maybe a black throw rug. Don't paint the walls black. You could use black decorations on the walls, like black photo frames. Maybe you could find black & red curtains.

This is an excellent idea; when we moved into our house, one room had black walls. It took two coats of primer and two coats of one coat only paint to cover the black. In certain lights the black still came through.
Perhaps one wall could be red, with the black curtains and rugs. Red and black accessories and white to balance it out.Good luck, I do like your color combos. A very dark room can put you in a very dark mood.
