i've just had what i thought was a virus infection but it turned out to be, i think, just a scam. I closed down my browser and restarted my comp and it seemed to be working alright. i've googled the name of the co. that said my comp was infected (it showed my computer programmes as being infected) and here's the link about it. I'm not sure whats going on exactly but it seems to be a harmless but annoying scam.

There are a lot of scams like that out there. You go to a website with a script that causes a popup saying your computer is infected. Then it says click here to remove the infection. Never click on the popup. You'll definitely get an infection if you do.
The best thing you can do is use firefox with the noscript addon installed.

If that happens again, go to the Microsoft downloads area, and get their "Malicious software" tool and run it. It worked for me.
