I'm going to see if I can buy some of her work even if it's just a print. The baby or the cat. Wow!!!
This amazes me, she must have so much patience.

I was born in Brooklyn NY 1958, grew up on LI and presently live Upstate with my husband of 30 years John. The art of drawing with pencil has been a major part of my life for over 40 years. I started out drawing from life, as the years passed my drawings became more detailed and took longer to finish. Today most all of my work takes anywhere from 20-80 hours so I work primarily from reference photos. I'm self taught and strive for realism in each piece using only graphite pencils.

They've got to be done with a combination of both pencil and charcoal! But, no, I couldn't do that....

I bet she's traced the actual photograph through light. I can do that, though by tracing the photograph through light and then filling it in as we see.

Its one of things we did in our photography class.

Though the first two are extraordinary. Especially the second one...the lips alone are like crazy.

The link shows exactly how it's done and there's no charcoal and no tracing. 80 hrs. per pic sometimes.

I'm speechless. I don't know how she gets those details using a pencil. It should require needlepoint precision, but she gets it with a mechanical pencil? Man, I'd go nuts. I hate details. But props to her.

I know, I read it. But still, it's all those details. They say that's where God is...I'd just go postal attempting that.

You sure can. There are different grades of graphite.

As of 2009, a set of pencils ranging from a very hard, light-marking pencil to a very soft, black-marking pencil usually ranges from hardest to softest as follows.

9H 8H 7H 6H 5H 4H 3H 2H H F HB B 2B 3B 4B 5B 6B 7B 8B 9B
