Commonwealth Games 2014

Enjoying the 2014 comm games. Glasgow is putting on a fine show.

They have ran it well, seems like a bit of a step up from Delhi last time. Australia doing surprisingly well in the shooting too, usually India are really strong in those events but we've taken 4 gold from it so far, less surprising is the form in the pool and in the veladrome.

The Scots are also having a very good game. Of course you expect the host nation to do well but remember Scotland only has a population of some 5.2 million

It was nice seeing the 13 year old Scottish girl who won a bronze medal in swimming.

Don't really know if it was particularly appropriate to ask Bolt about what he reckons should happen in the middle east re israel and palestine!

I like the swimming but missed so much of it being on so late down here as you'd know shadow, Vella won a gold in the trap but Diamond missed out of bronze. India currently taking it up to Australia in the hockey too.

What a load, sure if any Muslim athlete didn't want to walk out with a dog they wouldn't have bee forced too. Offence is taken not given.

I was reading an article in another paper and watched a video that was on there, I got the impression that the people walking with the dog was actually their owner so nobody would have had to touch the actual dog anyway! It's bloody ridiculous.

It's a total load of bollocks isnt it. Love how extremists always claim to speak for the majority. I doubt if ANY muslim athletes were in any way offended. And it's not as if they were being made to pat the bloody things! It's all just barking!

Again, from what i have seen, and from listening to athletes from various countries, the Scots are doing a great job in hosting the games.

Read a rumour Usian Bolt was over heard calling the Games "pretty s***" and the Olympics are better. Well off course the Olympics are better but the Commonwealth Games are still massive, gives smaller countries a chance to represent their sports on the world stage. I'd also imagine the Welsh and Scotts feel honoured to be representing their own country rather then being lumped in with England in the Olympics under GB.

Maybe the swimming isn't any where near as strong with the US, China and Russia not there but athletics with the likes of Kenya and Jamaica are still very strong. The track cycling with Australia and England still strong, hockey still strong, shooting still strong, gymastitics still strong, the diving with Australia and Canada still strong only missing China from the worlds best there.
