Quote:
Leaders of the NAACP and other groups blame the decline on new state laws requiring people to produce identification to register or placing limits on who can run a voter registration drive.

Another likely factor, said Melanie Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation: The excitement over the prospect of electing the first black president has faded.

Is it to much of a stretch to think the blame just might belong to the people that are to uninterested to care or bother to get out and vote ?

IMO, hell YES! It is "to much of a stretch".....to even put this issue in the contexts of blaming someone for being "uninterested" when it comes to voting rights in America! You are a woman, so maybe I can understand you having a strong opinion when it comes to voting rights. After all...folks like you and I weren't automatically PRIVILEGED to vote due to our God given gender in the past! That took an act of congress or whatever to establish. Not to mention even LONGER for black women! So that's where I put that "blame" you mentioned. Blame those who founded such RIDICULOUS laws with unfounded beliefs against those of us who were FORTUNATE enough not to be raised with that kind of bigotry!

Women have been able to vote for a bit over 90 years and blacks for close to 50 years . So your reprocesses bulls*** posting about the founding fathers being to blame for the American citizens of any race that are just not interested enough to bother with voting ,well to put it bluntly, That dog won't hunt.

Why not ask the people why they don't vote.
here is a link as to the percent who do vote. 56% what a bunch of crap.

We need to find out why they are not voting and fix it. link [www.infoplease.com]

That is a great idea,I wonder why the "Leaders of the NAACP and other groups" don't that ?
Race or gender or size of bank accounts are not what keeps people from voting.

You have posted that you have voted just a couple of times since you reached legal voting age.
So, tell me if you will, when was the last time ole Ben Franklin or Tomas Jefferson or one of the other founding fathers , came up to you and stopped you from voting ?

Spinkie, to be fair there are many many people that are apathetic about voting. For many reasons. They don't think their vote matters, that it won't affect the outcome. Or they've lost faith in the government or don't think it really affects them. Some don't think it's worth the trouble or the hassle. There is a large disconnect between many people and the government when it comes to voting - and many reasons for it.

Everyone should vote. Everyone should be passionate about voting. Especially anyone from a group that had to fight for that right. But sadly that's not the case.

Wow .
Maybe you should clarify your statement , it could be taken in ways you may not intend it to be taken .
