I see people on tv giving cats milk but my mom allways told me that gives them worms.? So I never gave mine milk ,But she also told me my two cats had raibies when I was 7.I now know they were just two playfull kittens and that she gave them away.
Would it be ok to give grown cats milk for the first time?

I suspect that if this were the case, kitties would be dropping dead left and right. Indeed, all of my own cats would be long dead.
Tuna, by itself, has 2 problems for cats:
1) Doesn't have enough vitamins and nutrients, so unfortified it can't be the sole source of food for any length of time without the cat developing deficiencies.
2) Tuna has mercury, and eating lots of tuna over a long period of time can lead to a significant mercury buildup that could be potentially harmful.
The level and types of fat in "human" tuna can also be a problem over the long haul.
But, will tuna kill your cat? Not unless you feed it tuna almost exclusively over a very long period of time. And certainly not overnight.
yeah, it is to rich for cats. Two people I know gave them a full tin of tuna, one died, the other made it to the vets on time after throwing up for hours. perhaps it was the brands, not all tuna is the same. ------and I am talking an entire tin.
I had also asked my own vets after hearing that.
perhaps some cats can tolerate it.
not worth the risk to me.
and thanks for the negative kudos.
I was only stating my opinion, because of the above info, if you don't like it, by all means, feed your cat a full tin of tuna.
This was not to be a war zone topic. | | | Edited: May 12, 2008 @ 21:18

2 of our cats love milk, they have it when we have cereal, no harm at all.

I'm sorry, you simply have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Please don't spread total misinformation crap like "tuna kills cats" and then give people negative kudos when they present actual facts and information into the discussion.
This is one of the big problems with the internet, I guess. Some random person can just spout absolute bulls**t and people will buy right into it.

mine have always had regular milk, when we have cereal, they come up and have some, but I don't leave it out for them, or when I have a glassful, Jack will come up and drink it, but I don't leave it out for them and the milk they do make for cats.......they won't touch it, its just not milk.
think of the millions of cats on farms, they drink is constantly, and outlive our indoor suck-cats!
