Watched an hour special in which nutricients were doing different evaulations on both, 'Premium' said, and your regular ones. Both being dried foods for cats and dogs.

When you see labels saying "Premium' or something to that effect, including the high priced ones at your vets, they are 'not Premium' its just something the manufacturer has put on them.

Most bags of food will be the same % of ingredients.

Be careful when choosing their foods, mostly its grains etc. Cats are meat eaters, look for the first 3-4 ingredients on labels and what % they have in meats.

Apparently dry foods are the worst, for cats & dogs, they are just loaded with grain and tons of crap........even watch the ones that say diet, check others to compare.

If searching for low ash for urinary track cats that get infections.......compare all bags to see which one has the least amount of ash.

Dry cat foods are made with grains because it's extraordinarily difficult to make a meat-based dry food.

Dry food is generally bad for cats. Cats that eat dry foods are generally dehydrated and have more problems, especially kidney problems.

People need to realize that the pet food industry is, in general, a way for the human food industry to make money off the stuff that humans will not consume themselves and would otherwise go to waste. Cheap pet food is like feeding your child nothing but the scraps McDonald's throws out every night.

There's a lot to pet food, and it behooves every pet owner to ensure that their pet is getting quality nutrition.

my cats get both, tinned is good just for the moisture.

You don't have to change, just check the ingredients.

also for those who don't know.......never give a cat a full tin of adult tuna......its to rich for them, they will be dead in 24 hours........just a bit is fine for them.

Obviously, this is bulls**t. There is absolutely nothing about tuna that is toxic to cats, much less able to kill them in 24 hours flat.

I suspect that if this were the case, kitties would be dropping dead left and right. Indeed, all of my own cats would be long dead.

Tuna, by itself, has 2 problems for cats:

1) Doesn't have enough vitamins and nutrients, so unfortified it can't be the sole source of food for any length of time without the cat developing deficiencies.

2) Tuna has mercury, and eating lots of tuna over a long period of time can lead to a significant mercury buildup that could be potentially harmful.

The level and types of fat in "human" tuna can also be a problem over the long haul.

But, will tuna kill your cat? Not unless you feed it tuna almost exclusively over a very long period of time. And certainly not overnight.

I have fed all of my cats tuna before and only one has died. He was hit by a car, nothing to do with tuna.

ha,, I feed mine meat. and by meat i mean meat. I feed the beef. chicken, turkey. and so on. and for some reason they also eat veggies. I guess it's the Asian leopard Cat gene that lets them eat whatever. in moderation of course.
I guess My cats are really more like dogs.
