Netflix have bought up the rights to the second series of the British Dystopian Near Future series "Black Mirror".

The title refers to the 'cold, black, shiny screen' of a TV, computer monitor or mobile phone and the series concerns how technology has produced very powerful tools which we still haven't quite gotten to grips with yet, and is increasingly exploited by The State as a means of policing and social control. Computers are the tool through which the stories occur, but they always turn out to tales of human failing which the technology has helped to facilitate.

Written by Charlie Brooker, the first series was televised in the UK by Channel 4, but they have sold it to Netflix who have exclusive rights to series two. I believe series one was subsequently re-run via Netflix to an international audience and if you didn't see it, I recommend you do if it comes around again, especially the White Christmas episode which is very thought provoking.

For other Brit TFS'ers, Series Two commences here next Friday.

Sounds interesting.

Netflix says "Season 3" starts next Friday.
Per Wiki - "Season 1" = 3 episodes in 2011, "Season 2" = 3 episodes in 2013

I put "Season" in quotes because it roughly, but not always, maps to the British "Series"

And your description is more intriguing than the wiki bland description.

Thanks!

I watched the first season or series or whatever the F the brits call it. I watch a lot of British "telly", I thought that BM was ok, I wasn't blown away by it.

I watched the first two - Interesting. I'll be back for more.

I like that they're self-contained episodes. I don't have to rush to watch the next show before I forget who's who and what's happening.

Thanks!

Just watched San Junipero from Season 3 last night.

Two to go.

I've see some reviews describe the series as a modern day Twilight Zone.
I wouldn't disagree.
