I'll say Don't Break the Oath.

What does everyone else think?

Yeah i'm sorry i left it pretty open ended but i know there are some albums that just give that feeling no matter how many times you've heard them. Others I guess would be pleasure to kill and black metal (notice an 80's theme? ) but mercyful fate are just the nuts, in my humble opinion.

it's just so broad!

OK, but some I couldn't live with out then...

Master Of Puppets
British Steel
Sons Of Northern Darkness
Tomb Of The Mutilated
Cowboys From Hell
Chaos A.D
Paranoid
Hellyeah
Anything by strapping young lad
The Apostacy
In Sorte Diaboli (purely for the drumming in song 2)

It's hard man, lol weighing up great new stuff that I'm listening too, along with the old 'classics' I can't pick a best one.

I'm finding it really hard comparing say, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden to say Immortal and Behemoth for example

i know what you mean, after all theres a lot of styles that dpont really compare too good, but i go on what feeling the album gives off. Ummm.... Like, Filosofem by Burzum makes me feel the same way as Seventh son of a Seventh son (with a bit more of a headache at the end.)

Opeth - Still Life

How the s*** did i forget this?!?! Its like the only thing post 1990 worth listening to. I love how they don't feel the need to make everything have "groove!!!" and sound br00t4l. I mean pantera were okay i guess but i love that there are bands who still wanna write more prog influenced songs, as opposed to generic beatdowns and 4 minute chuggers.

you guys seem pretty on the ball with metal

I listen to Bring me the Horizon alot

I don't take notice of what they wear or how they act

I just think they're music is really good, catchy riffs and excellent beats.

I have never really taken much to vocals, I listen to pretty much any vocalist if I like the tune the vocals are following, I guess I take the vocals as another instrument following notes, obviously I don't like some vocals for obvious reasons.

But all you guys really hate them, I just wanted to know why, and don't tell me about what they wear and how bad there hair is, I want to know why you don't like the music

because thats what its all about right?

Well for a start the music is sub-par bollocks. Even for deathcore its s***, and all deathcore is terrible. It all has the habit of merging into blast / breakdown / blast again without much in the way of variation.

And secondly you can't be all trendy and play filthy underground music. The entire point of playing that sort of thing is to go against the mainstream. Plus, they make emo kids think death metal was invented in 2006. One i know had never even heard of Morbid Angel, for f***s sake

There are a few I'd be hard pressed to sort through.

Powerslave
Master of Puppets
Reign in Blood
Back in Black
