Those in Ontario may know of the attempt to ban plastic water bottle in an attempt to lessen litter. It takes years longer than a lot of us will be alive to break down the plastic in these bottles.

Could you imagine in 100 years. Children digging in old dump sites trying to find an old water bottle with water in it to survive, because there is little water left on earth.

The price we pay for bottled water is far more expensive than gas. Most water is out of tap not from a spring. we can fill our own reusable water bottle for much cheaper.

I agree with this ban in Ontario since Ontario has safe drinking water. How safe is water in other areas where you live? Do you think plastic bottles should be banned?

Tap water is gross They were thinking of banning them here too.
I recycle though. IF everyone recycled, this would not be an issue.

Tap water is okay here, I always refill my bottle. I even heard tap water is better for your health because it contains more calcium.

I get your point, but if we recycle, there are many things that can be made from the bottles. It's more about people being too lazy to recycle than anything. My local water is fine, but Phila. water is discusting, you can't get past the smell.

I hate plastic. My town is on a river. Most river towns around me drink treated river water. Terrible stuff. I wouldn't even wash my clothes in it. However, my town gets all it's water from deep wells. Our water has been judged as some of the best in my state. That's why I find it idiotic to see people from my town actually buy bottled water from a place that may have inferior water than ours.

Has anyone thought about water filters. The ones that hook up underneath your sink are affordable now, so water quality shouldn't be an issue.

Even if someone recycles the bottle, there is still the energy and pollution in making and processing the bottled water. Then the energy used to recycle it and turn it into something else.

Banning is not the solution. Proper choices are, understandably it will take some effort to break the habit of relying on bottled water. Just keep at it and it will become second nature to bottle your own instead.

Actually there's a place here that bottles water, but if you drive to their plant, you can get free water out of their pump.
People take huge water jugs with them to fill up on the stuff.

Yup. I just wonder if there is like, a law or something which requires people to recycle stuff? Also, I really doubt the safety of these water bottles. I once left one that I was drinking from at the driver seat of our car. Since the car was parked at a sunny spot, the bottle and the water in it got warmed up a bit. I drank it and it tasted different

Warm water always tastes different.
I know you're not supposed to freeze water bottles. Alot of people do that, fill 'em up with water, freeze and drink. You can get toxins that way.

We have a well and our water is wonderful. However, I know a lot of people who live in town and get water from the plant don't like the taste...I don't either, for that matter!

I don't even understand why people but bottled water!!! You are wasting money on something that you could get for free! Maybe tap water doesn't taste as good, but you aren't leaving waste, and you are saving money!!
