I've been getting back pain a lot lately, most likely due to have a slightly wonky spine and the amount of time I spend on the computer.

I was just wondering if there were any natural things I could do to stop the pain? (I don't intend to not go on the computer though!).

Sorry if this is a stupid question, any ideas would be appreciated.

The only thing I do with my sciatica which is a sore lower back is if I've been sitting too long I get up and walk around. If the pain starts going down my leg I will put a heating pad on my lower back or "Ice Cold" a gel that helps me a lot. I can't take meds for it but those seem to help me.

As well I take a shower and let it hit on my lower back for a while and it seems to feel better after the shower.

Sorry about your pain and hope you find what helps you the best!

Are you sure it doesn't have anything to do with your monthly cycle?

I say this because I usually start getting back pain a week before mine to about a couple days into it. The pain sucks too...its very discomforting..and sometimes sever.

Also...I only started getting it as I got older...around 17,18,19...and you seem to be around there...and I never was one to have any sort of cramps before.

I started researching ways to get rid of the back pain...and truly everything came back to exercise..strengthening your back muscles etc to help reduce the pain. It does work...it made the pain less severe...but it doesn't completely take it away like I would like.

edit...and lilbear is right...a hot shower truly helps!

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a shower in a bit and get a heating oad and see if it's any better.

Hmm I'm not sure if it has anything to do with that, it's a possibility but I seem to get it rather randomly so I don't think there's a pattern to it. Thanks though.

That's what I was going to suggest. Heat really eases the pain. Heating pad works, or even boil some water and put it in a water bottle and rest against it for a bit (I do this when I have cramps during my period, too).

Hope you feel better!

If it is your lower back, sometimes it helps to stretch your back over one of those large exercise balls. In other words, lie on it backwards. Stability balls are also good for sitting on, too.

Ok so I'm bumping this thread because I still have back pain every day, though it does get worse at certain times of the month like previous posters have suggested. It's really starting to annoy me now and I'm going to Children of the 90's soon ao I can get it checked out then anyway, but in the meantime is there anything else that can help?

I've tried the heating pads and they work but only temporarily.

If you have scoliosis your back will be in constant pain. I just live with it and keep moving.

Well, you might try a paleo diet.

I play tennis and used to have terrible back pain after hitting. I now eat a paleo diet and my back pain has disappeared. Don't know why. Play more tennis today than I did back when I had the grumpy back.

I've got ongoing problems with mine, but if I've been on the computer for a long time, I do stretching exercises and make sure that I get up and go for a walk here and there.

What works for me is stretching and doing regular exercises that strengthen both the back muscles and abs.

Natural remedies can also work great. I really like aromatherapy along with supplements. This website is filled with lots of free information and useful links:

Good luck in finding something fast that will help long-term.
