Underneath the Cyanide Sun....
#1New Post! May 26, 2009 @ 14:04:05
So July 17th, I'm going to Hershey Park, and for the first time EVER I'll be riding roller coasters. I have before, but little ones, and my head was always buried in my mom's arm.

Tip: Always wear secure shoes, flip flops are not going to stay on your feet on most rides.

ANYWAY, my question for you avid amusement park goers:

For those who wear glasses, like me, what do you do?
Would they be secure on rough roller coasters? Ones that go obscenely fast and/or upside down?
I don't think that both of my aunts will be going on, so should I leave them with my aunts?

So yeah, post any amusement park tips you have. If you are partial to one park, you can post your reviews on the rides, where to eat, ect. ect.

They should be fine unless you're going upside down and stuff but better safe than sorry - it might be a good idea to bring a case and leave them off for the ride.

In terms of general tips I guess just try to travel lightly and don't leave stuff in your pockets. I've seen many lost cell phones and stuff lol.

For the past 5 years at least, I've had yearly passes to Busch Gardens and the other theme parks. I've only lost 1 pair of sun glasses. So I would say they are safe enough as long as you don't leave them on your head. Tuck them in a shirt or something.

Leave your glasses behind else you'll lose them. If you have long hair, tie it back, and leave the baseball caps behind as well.

We used to go to 6 flags, and when I lived in NYC I'd go to Coney Island every year to ride the cyclone. It is one of the best roller coasters in the world, and has been for something like 75 years..

Wooden coasters are more thrilling with less "flash" than the metal ones.

I think to be certain you could maybe were a strap to make sure they stay on? Like the ones that hold tight for sunglasses? You want to see all the things that are going to scare you right?

Not very practical if you need your glasses to see . . . .

I either get those string-things so that I can hang them around my neck, or I put them in my bag or in my pocket during the ride

Oh, and it may be a no brainer, but wear sunscreen. You'll likely be waiting in line for a while before the actual rides, walking around the park all day, etc.

Before I got contacts I put my glasses around my neck once and got hit in the face during the ride

I always wondered what to do with my glasses also. I want to go to an amusement park this fall, but I am soo blind without them and can't wear contacts.
Do the straps work to hold them in place??? I'd look like a dork, but better than losing $500 eyewear.

If they fall off your face, the straps will ensure they hang around your neck, but beware! (See annski's post)

I mean the tight strap that stays on the back of your head not the long strap around your neck. I dont know if it would work
