If you believe in using alternative options, does that make you a tree hugger? And why is a love of our natural environment such a bad thing?

No it does not....

I use alternative power to run most of my house

solar panels heat my pool...and windmill power on my property runs most my electricity...

It is when some people start bitching about gas prices yet "they" have stopped every effort to stop the bleeding of money that we send to OPAC with our own resources that we have here in the US. They have on one to blame but themselves.

It's OPEC, and the US doesn't have enough oil reserves to make a dent in OPEC. OPEC nations have something like 100 times as much oil as the US does.

It's not the tree-huggers, it's the failing economy combined with increasingly hostile oil producers in Asia.

you might want to do a little research on that...

Saudi Arabia alone has over 11 times the oil reserves of the US.

And, yes, I'm sorry. OPEC itself has 50 times the oil reserves of the US. Not 100.

Here are the countries that make up OPEC:
Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela

Now pull out your calculator.

Our great grandmother lived though the 1930's. She laughs out load when people talk about how today's economy is shakey.
