because these two type of characters act like a comedy double team,
the fat stupid one does something stupid/funny the smart skinny one says something funny about the stupid person or the thing the stupid person did.
and if your question was, why is the fat stupid one male, im guessing because if the producers of theses programmes depicted a stupid fat woman, they'd be accused with sexism before you could say "show canceled"
or maybe its because fat/stupid men are found more funny than fat/stupid women  | | | |
