Thanks

They're pretty...plants and I just are not very good friends...they don't want to live when it's up to me to take care of them

My mum kills all the plants she tries to grow!! She's really not the gardener she thinks she is...

Mine too. My cats seem to think chillis are delicious shortly followed by vomiting.

I want to try African Violets. Any pointers on how to take care of them successfully?

water them.

I actually had 2 of them...took me 3 years to kill it.
I only watered it once a month. If I'm correct, which is possible that I'm not, you water them sparingly, give them plenty of sunlight.

When mine looked bad I watered them. They did very well...well I should say until I stopped water them.

After skimming this, it's exactly what I did. link [www.gardenguides.com]

and I always watered the soil, not the actually flowers or leaves.

I read somewhere that they should be watered from the bottom, the water in a separate pot then the pot with the plant put down into that one, so the water doesn't touch the leaves.

seriously, it's not that hard. Give it a bit of sun and water it. just don't over water it. I think watered mine once a month and it did fine.
