African-American vs. Black

I have always wondered why black people insist on being called "African-Americans". White people are rarely called "Caucasians". I don't think that they should be called "African-American" unless they have immigrated here from Africa. My mother was born in Ireland and moved to America, so technically she is Irish-American, but I was born here, so I'm just an American. I just think that black people shouldn't be called African-American unless they actually moved here from Africa, because other American citizens don't receive the same title.

No,but I have consumed a lot of Guinness in my lifetime so I think that should count.
