I found a book the other day and some of the advertisments made me chuckle. Some of the products I remember Mum using when I was growing up in the 50's.

Robin starch and sunlight soap. I remember Dads collars had to be starched.

Gorringes flannel suits for boys all sizes 12'6 pence. Double seated and double elbows. Reinforcements are stitched invisibly throughout.

Pride of home includes pride of car . The SWIFT is very pleasing to the eye. 10h.p. two or four seater £210

Twilfit Corsets every pair guaranteed. British made throughout and all our corsets are fitted with twilfit spiral steels which are rustless and unbreakable. For the average figure only 13 shillings and 6 pence.

Managing a husband. Sometimes he is grumpy other times to languid to walk or talk, dosn't eat or sleep well. What does a wife do ? The wifely wife knows that he needs toning up so she always has Eno's Fruit salts to hand to tone him up and restore him.
Eno's Fruit salts 1'9pence.
