I find accents very interesting.

I have mainly a North-East of Scotland accent (having lived here most my life). But according to a psychologist he can hear a hint of north English to my accent, which makes sence seeing as my Dad was brought up in Yorkshire.

One thing I find interesting is the difference between some accents. I honestly can't tell the difference between the Glaswegian accent and the Stirling one. Both sound weegie to me, but Glaswegians I know are convinced that they are entirely different.

What accent do you have, and what accents can you not tell the difference between?

I have a "stokey" accent and often get asked if I am from Liverpool! To me though the Stoke accent sounds nothing like the Liverpool accent. I also can't tell the difference between Welsh accents (even though I was born there and my dad's family live there), some people just have a stronger Welsh accent than others to me. I think the same goes for people with Scottish (and my mum's family are Scottish) and the Irish. I.e I couldn't identify what part of Wales/Scotland/Ireland a person was from because of their accent

English people from the south have the most noticable accents to me.

I hear a really english accent from the south and I notice it immediately.

but it's not an accent as such i mean most accents are defined by a city, like liverpool, london, manchester and southern accents vary a lot, the dorest accent is completely different to mine.

I dunno, I mean the Geordie accent is rife all across Durham.

The accent I think is hillarious is that really posh London one.

I remember, about 10 years old, getting onto the tube, my ticket didnt work through the machine. This guy came up, musta been in his fifties, said "Come through on mine old boy"! I was ten! It was genious.

If I was English I'd want either that accent or the Yorkshire one.

I have a janna accent, I am from Plymouth, most people from the South west recognise it as Plymouth.
If I meet someone from up north though, they just cla** it as south.
I am pretty good at pin pointing northern accents though.

I pick up accents so easily, if I spend some time with someone with a different accent to me I end up speaking with that accent!

One thing that I find interesting about Australia is (according to my gf) the accent is pretty much the same everywhere in Australia.
