About bloody time too!
Hard to think that in the 21st century gays still can't get married in America.
I thought it was the land of the free, so lets hope it's legal across the whole of the US!

They still cant get "married" here yet, either, its a Civil Partnership.

For all I say, let the gays get married, just over my dead body they try to get married in a Church.

Dark-skinned ethnic groups had to battle against discrimination for ages so for Obama to demonstrate a policy accepting of other sects, often times suppressed by discrimination, I thought that it would have been a no-brainer and that he would've done it immediately.

I agree with that absolutely - It would be out of role for a Christian preacher to marry a gay couple.

mixed race marriages were banned in some states of the USA, but now people try to use that in order to justify same sex marriage.

But its diffrent, a Man and Woman of two ethnic groups are still MAN AND WOMAN!

That was the way it was meant to be, racism sabotaged that, however marriage was never man/man or woman/woman!!!!

That being said, marriage in the secular sense is not a Christian marriage anyway, so, I dont care about that.

I can agree with "Man + Woman is what God/Nature intended" that much is obvious but I think that souls get misplaced sometimes.

Marriage is supposed to be a celebration of 'Love' and true love knows no boundaries - even gender.

I personally feel that, most times, marriage is a demonstration of mistrust (especially as solicited by the Church) as it's a contract to damn one or the other, if they separate from their pact with their beloved, rather by Inferno or lawsuit.

It's an extremely touchy situation politically. A large portion of the US doesn't support gay marriage.

It would be cool to see a homosexual man stand up and tell the world that it can shove their marriage contracts up their arses because his love for his mate does not need to be proven with a piece a paper and words constructed by mortal men.

Obama changed his position on this at least 3-4 times. That tells me he stands for whatever has the most votes.

Wouldn't this one be contrary to that idea though, if a majority of votes come from people with anti-gay sentiments

That's because most of them are sheep - Poisoned by the ignorant and conditionally accepting stigmas generated by their ancestors.

Your fore fathers will never know best if they refuse to allow themselves to continue learning.

So if let's say the Episcopal church, which has gay ministers and gay bishops, decided to have gay marriages....

Or if the Anglican Church of Canada, which permitted the blessing of same-sex unions in 2002, decided to have gay marriages....

.....they would have to kill you 1st?

Seems a bit of a paradox...

Well, I am Anglican, However I am against all these what I call "Secularised Christians" who seem to just align their viewpoints to suit the modern world.

Lukily my Local Church is against all that, infact completely so as they are openly against even secular gay marriage, so I guess I am is what they coin as a "Traditionalist" or "Conservative", I have even heard the term "Hardliner" (How one is a "hardliner" for trying to actually follow the bible)

Maybe not today, but one day I think people will have to be forced to stand against what people are doing.

Sadly my own Denomination is one of the main ones dragging the faith through the mud and turning it into a laughing stock.
