Thankfully, you don't have to. I gave six straight quotes with links to sites saying the exact same thing. And HowStuffWorks, Encarta, and Cars.com are not exactly nobodies who don't know what they're talking about.

Diesel engines are more efficient than comparable gasoline engines. It's a fact. Accept it.

When I am shown with 10-15 MPG for a truck in comparison to a car with 30 MPG such as mine which is a sedan

You're comparing a small car to a truck. Gasoline trucks get even poorer fuel economy than diesel trucks.

Wheres your source for that information? If that's true then why does something with diesel running it getting around 10 MPG than a gas car that's getting around 25 MPG?
Another question is, if diesel is so much better, why wouldn't cars have it, instead of big bulky trucks or SUV's?

your comparing 4+ ton vehicles to 1 ton cars? theres a huge difference, and what truck with a diesel gets 10 MPG? a semi? imagine a semi with a gas engine, it would get like 2 MPG. if you take a ford f350 with a gas engine it get's roughly 10 mpg, you take the same exact truck with a diesel engine it jumps up to 17, and cars do have diesel engines, some mercedes, volvos, and suppsoedly the 2009 mitsubishi lancer will have a diesel

No, they absolutely do not, unless you're comparing a 130-hp engine in a Toyota Corolla to a 350-hp engine in a Ford F350 pickup truck.

Look at Volkswagen and Mercedes, both of whom offer vehicles with either a gasoline engine or a diesel engine. In every single case, the diesel engine gets 20-40% better fuel efficiency.

I was doing my comparison based on the assumption that most diesel engines out there are in larger vehicles (semis, buses, large trucks, etc.). In any case, fossil fuel is terrible for the environment and your health.

Well then like 04EXCURSION said take a comparison of a regular motor F-350 and a diesel. Or a regular and diesel jetta or mercedes or anything else that makes both as an option!

Ford Super Duty F250:

6.4L, V-8 Power Stroke diesel
City traffic: 18.28 mpg
Grapevine pass with cruise control: 19.08 mpg

6.8L, V-10 Triton gasoline
City traffic: 8.95 mpg
Grapevine pass with cruise control: 12.55 mpg

Volkswagen Jetta:
The 170 hp gasoline Jetta gets 20/29 mpg.
The 140 hp diesel Jetta gets 29/40 mpg

So in both of these vehicles, the diesel engine is MUCH more fuel efficient. The diesel in the truck produces 40% more torque, too.

Anyone want to try to tell me that diesels are less efficient? Or that it takes 2 gallons of diesel to equal 1 gallon of gasoline?

Anyone? Anyone at all?

I think you forgot this quote:

lol, why should i do your work for you, I don't care if you believe me or not, it's not going to stop me from buying a truck. secondly Diesel is better than gas. thirdly, we don't have rednecks in Long Beach, they live in the south, and the east coast. if im an ignorant redneck then you would be an ignorant tree hugger

Or this funny one. Yeah... listen to this guy. LOL

no, i just love the sound. half the fun of a great vehicle,is how fast it is, the other half is how loud it is. loud vehicles are great. there's nothing fascinating about a muscle car if it sounds like a camry. monster trucks wouldn't be as popular if they were as loud as your off the lot F150

^If that isn't redneck, I don't know what is.

I need a monster truck, so I can run over this guy's excursion.
