streetlight is amazing but i'd have to say the suicide machines due to their debut album destruction by definition. it's golden.

what do you think is the best ska band ever? i think it is streetlight manifesto. what do you guys think?
I love streetlight, but I don't really consider them ska. Of course, they have a major ska influence in their music, but I don't think that it has enough of the original ska sound to be just ska. anyways, they're my favorite band of all.

'the skatalites' invented the sound in Jamaica in the late 1950's and they are the godfathers and still play today!! i've seen them 4 or 5 times and they are best gigs i have been too..check out youtube: Skatalites - Freedom Sound - Live
for a taster of real SKA
I missed out on the 2 tone sound in '79. but since seen the 'The selecter' supporting desmond dekker at dingwalls mental gig and recently 'the specials' at brixton never been so hot! and from the states it's 'the slackers' small gig with 'friends' in camden with 'Susan Cadogan'& 'Doreen Schaefer' quality!

symarip playing skinhead moonstomp at rayners was special too though they were all old boys!!
lucky enough to be at this gig to see the last ever 'lauren aitken' at club ska @ the rayners (google: Lauren Aitken and Friends - Live At Club Ska)

check out the delegators and skalectrix round london

You guys are forgetting The Originals, The Kings of 2 Tone. It is all about The English Beat, The Specials, Madness, Bad Manners & The Skatalites

Reel big fish, catch 22, Jake etc. are catchy, I guess but not great. The new wave is yet to put forth a good/solid Ska sound which was experienced in the first wave/2tone era.
