I know the immediate reaction will be "no". But think about the times, and the conditions at the time. Economic destress, massunemployment, democracy thats not working, communistic revolution happening all around you. Mass Poverty, Mass injustice, the belief that there will be no decent future. Then the Nazi's come along with a sollution to your countries problems. National socialist german workers party, they sound apealing.
Though with knowledge now it is easy to realise how evil they were, but at the time i reckon there is a good chance i would have voted for them. anyone agree?
i will admit that as a patriotic person i would have voted for the nazis as they promised the german public to overthrow the treaty of versailles which was a embarassment for the germans. also shaking up the youth in military style would have been good for them teaching them respect and obdeince. also the creation of the 'autobahns' would have been awesome, as that would have solved the 30's depression and help bring the economy of germany back into focus, also giving its people to be proud that they were the 1st nation to have real motorways. of course no1 at that time would have had any idea that they would persecute jews, mein kampf wasnt really nationally printed untill after they got into power. (bbtw im from england, and am no way related to the german people)

i've read Mein Kampf, but most Germans at the time hadnt. and anyway, i really think if you lived in Germany at the time you would. has anyone here bought and S Club 7 or busted, or mcfly or whatever other popstars are arounds cd? becouse it's the same sorta idea.
I think you have a fair point, If you had lived in Germany at that you may have been more likely to. Of course not to say its right, but wouldn't it fall in the same category as religion in a way, such as the middle east. Its religion is its government...while most westerners view it as dominant and militant, the people there don't see it that way. But I believe it has to be a specific environment, situation etc..
That being said...I wouldn't have a vote...I am not the ideal candinate for a party that promotes the Arian race...but if it was for all people...I really don't know, can't say yes or no.

Of course, to you, with your relatively comfortable economical and social position, Hitler would seem to be a nut, but to the millions of Germans who lived in squalor, degraded and humiliated by the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler was a source of hope and inspiration.
If I was the average German, I would have probably voted for him.
