Chester Bennington, lead singer of the rock band Linkin Park, probably best known for the song below, was found dead today, having apparently killed himself in a suicide, which was shocking both for the suddenness as well as his relatively young age and current relevant status in the music industry, bringing back memories of Kurt Cobain's death, among others at the height of their musical careers.

Linkin Park, considered by many to be the leading band in the nu-metal/rap hybrid that popularized the rock genre throughout the first decade of the new millennium, has sold over 70 million copies of their albums, with their 1999 debut, Hybrid Theory, being on the very short list of over 10 million albums sold in the US alone, 27 worldwide. Other top selling albums include 2003's Meteora and 2007's Minutes to Midnight. Staple hits still heard regularly on rock stations include "In the End" (below), "Somewhere I Belong", "Numb", "Breaking the Habit", "What I've Done", and "Bleed it Out". It was the vocal interplay between singer Bennington and rapper Mike Shinoda that many consider to be what defined them. Without Chester, Linkin Park is really no more.

RIP

Sucks, the guy was just a few years younger than me. Linkin Park was a great band. Rip buddy. Chris Cornell too. Both situations suck.

I really wanted to see them live too. Sometimes someone can't win a battle against their demons alone. I feel for his family and band.

We even loss a few Marines (Active Duty and Veterans) in the past 2 weeks. 2017 is just a rough year like last year.

Apparently he was close with Chris Cornell, and that was the leading cause.

For 17 years these guys narrated my life with their words. Gave me a shimmer of hope that someone out there understood me. They were able to put into words everything I felt, but couldn't. Celebrity deaths never bother me but this one really has.
