Opioid epidemic

What I don't get is the opioid thing going on.

I can kind of understand if you're already addicted how you can get a bad batch.
But how many victims are relatively new users?

And why would dealers want to sell lethal product to their clients?

Isn't there some kind of fear spreading through that culture about this? Or has it gone beyond the fear of death, and maybe a form of suicide by chance?


Fear of addiction and possible death is what kept my experiments somewhat limited through my high school and college years.

Painkillers. Starts off as a prescription for such, and then goes beyond that into dependency for users.

My wife was put on narcotics after her cesarean section, and she had the good sense to get off of them as quickly as she could - within a few days, due to doctor caution with the drugs.
