The FUN3D code is used to model how air flows around simulated aircraft in a supercomputer.
The software was developed in the 1980s and is written in an older computer programming language called Fortran.



NASA is running a competition to speed up the code. $55k payout

One of my college projects was to write a Fortran program to simulate airflow through a jet engine. (fluid dynamics)

If only I had kept up on an old language in a career I had no interest in (programming)
