Hi, I am new!

Does anyone have any information/experience regarding a bone spur by the archilles tendon? Went to the foot doctor yesterday and I understand that the bone spur has been there for a while as it is quite large. The X-rays show some damage to the tendon. I am to have a MRI done to see how much damage there is. It sounds like the recovery time if surgery is warranted is quite long. Does anyone have any knowledge/experience regarding this?

welcome!

years ago, my mom had it.

i kind remember that she had bandage it a lot. it took over 6 months or little more. i know painfully her, i wasn't lived with her at the time. it been about over 17 years, she died about 15 years ago.

i pretty sure, she need didn't have surgery. she can walk barely, but she had a car that help from my sisters and i.

that all, i remember about it.

the surgery involves endoscopic plantar fasiotomy, small slits are made in the heel and a camera is inserted, then the plantar fascia ligament is cut from the heel , this allows new fascia tissue to develop relieving the tension that causes plantar fascia (bone spurs)

you will be none weight bearing only about a week. I would say three weeks in all at the most you should be fine.

My neighbor had to have his achilles tendon cut and the spurs removed. I think the level of surgery needed scales with severity and complexity of the spurs.

Thank you all for the insight. This Monday I get results from the MRI to see how damaged my tendon may be.
