"500" best is too many "bests" for me.

That's like going to a stadium concert with 60,000 of your closest friends!

Unless it's been done we could go for a Forum site top 10. Those interested could send in their top 5 albums...

Sounds good to me. Set the criteria for entry as being posters top ten personal favourites rather than artistic or commercial merits.

I'll let you set the ball rolling / start the thread.

I was thinking along the lines of how the lists for best horror films etc have been compiled on TFS...

I would probably have to keep editing my top 10 depending on the day, my mood, what I remember, what I forgot .. especially if they are to be in order

Or how about "3 albums you'd like to hear today" ...
That way a poster isn't limited to one (or two) lists.

I was on a support call and the on-hold music sounded a little like Philip Glass, so I started thinking ... I'd like to hear Glassworks today!

As soon as I saw there was a list, I knew The Beatles would be at the top, mostly likely with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band - don't think that surprised anyone. Beach Boys was kind of a surprise. I would have thought Thriller would make top 5, simply because of how monstrous most of the hits on that album were. I was pretty happy there didn't appear to be *too* much bias, there was even representation of genres. Seeing Miles Davis and John Coltrane so far up the list was appropriate, IMO. Kind of surprised Pink Floyed The Wall was #87, would have though it'd at least break the top 50, if not top 25. Led Zeplin should have had some representation in the top 50 as well.

Happy to see Dr. Dre on there. I agree with a previous poster about alanis morissette not making the list was weird. I would have expected Jewel's "Pieces of Me" to have made the top 500 at least in the last 50. Especially because the White Stripes album made it. But there were few disappointments, I mostly agree with what made the list and thought they did a good job!
