i shouldn't judge scooge so harshly, this sucker was meanie.

especially, with tiny tim.

tiny tim came over scooge's house several times. scooge had a dog once, his dog could keep up with mortgage up with his doghouse. scrooge kicked out the dog of his life.

you can blame the dog can't keep up his mortgage . bye! bye!

a dog took a bite at scooge, and scooge ate him for dinner.

so, scrooge in enjoyed spend time in his backyard with tiny tim. scrooge has no dog now.

scooge throw sticks into the wood, told tiny tim to fetch. that's mean.

scooge so mean tiny tim, every night, in the middle of the night. scooge will go tiny tim's apartment , while tim is sleep.

scooge will cut off a little bit of the bottom of his cane every night. that's mean.

finally, scooge is so mean, he killed kenny! that bastard!

neither,was i.

originally, i was for point, then i realized no point to scooge. because " a christmas carol " was trying not judging people.

simply , a man eat too prunes in the morning, and crap on people. because he was always constipated, that prunes never works.

i was never been fan of a christmas carol - a man had travel past, present. and the future to find himself. that man need to find hope and compassion at his old age to be kind to people.

you don't need to have christmas, to find the good in someone.

basely, that the story about moral issues of good and bad, and how forgive oneself to star over.

this would been a good points, i could brought into this thread.

na, i was being silly.

All good questions.

All about standing one's ground.
Also 'know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em'.
Balance.

Critical thinking. Situational.
Balance.

Holding oneself and each other accountable and responsible,
but not being too 'dogmatic' or 'righteous' about it.
Balance.

Think before you speak or act.
First: be still - watch, look, listen.
Then make a decision to act or speak - or do nothing, even.
Balance.

Situational, too. Balance.

Premise: morality has value

Q. Is there any advantage to adhering to a moral code of conduct?

How you behave when no one is watching is an indication of your morality.

Is adherence to a moral code the result of fear of punishment or hope of reward?

Is goodness for goodness sake possible?

Have we been programmed to be good or bad?

Good is that which is beneficial (That which is beneficial is not necessarily that which is desired)

Bad is that which is harmful

Individual morality

~ that which has been learned through experience to be beneficial or harmful

Social morality

~ that which is dictated by society as correct conduct

So, what should I do when my individual morality is inconsistent with societal standards?

Move to a different society with rules I agree with?

Pretend to agree with societal standards even though I don't?

Rebel and declare my beliefs?

Reminds me of a scene from the Crucible - Arthur Miller (Salem witch trials....)

Giles Corey is wrongfully accused of being a witch (or working for Satan). To get him to confess the interrogators put a board (a wooden door?) on him and start stacking stones/rocks on it.

Three times he is asked to plead innocent or guilty to witchcraft.

He knows the entire thing is BS.

Each time his reply is, "More Weight"

During his interrogation Giles gets a total of three mouthfuls of bread and some water, but he would not confess...his final words were, "More Weight".

PS...and off topic...
Per a Roman General... torture doesn't work...

PPS
I once met a real life Giles Corey... a U.S. pilot shot down in Vietnam...torture didn't work...and his reply was much like Giles' "More Weight", but began with an "F" and ended with a "u".
