I've read them. So you stop at subspecies? Or narrowly define it?

You can throw all of the same birds of a feather in the same cage and they are still going to be sorted as race, morphs, sub-species what have you. I understand what you are trying to say and most of this may be semantics but the use of race is common and has purpose.

All humans are members of the same subspecies, homo sapiens sapiens, according to taxonomical criteria. It is wrong to say that humanity as a subspecies can be further divided into subspecies.

I know that people commonly categorise each other into races according to physical appearance. I'm saying that it's pointless and divisive to do so. What benefits does racism confer? What purpose does it have? Calling apples apples in order to distinguish them from other fruit has a purpose. Calling certain humans 'black' and others 'white' has no good purpose.

How is this relevant? Do some humans taste better than others?

How are their differences not relevant? Many confuse being different with being better than another.

What are these differences then, apart from appearance, and how can you predict what someone will be like according to their race? Is prejudice justified?

Again. Biologically speaking it is a difference in melatonin- that is all. More correctly you could say race from geographical areas. Like apples- we have much diversity. Who would predict according to their race? Even animals of the same subspecies, morph, race can vary over geographical differences and sometimes even within the same population. I guess it boils down a tool for a biologist to catalog differences (not a derogatory event) and for a sociologist tool to include (to avoid prejudices).
I don't know how else to describe it for you. You approach it as being a negative to be done a way with to prevent prejudice (which I agree with you on)& I see it as a positive to understand makeup and geopgraphy.
