I think it has affected my country enormously! Crime has risen up to levels that have never been seen before, Where i live it was always quiet enough but the last five years there have been many people murdered and a lot of pipe bomb attacks and shooting incidents, My country is in dire straights economically and it's in the worst state out of the E.U. , We are run by a bunch of clueless retards who are as crooked as they come.

I mean i agree with what you said about raising minimum wage, that would definitely help. I mean more government programing will help, but like i stated before it wont solve the issue of poverty, there will always be poverty. I understand why you feel that the upper class should pay more taxes, but why should they have to pay for being wealthier than others? They worked hard for what they have. The poverty issue has been a problem for tens, even hundreds of years, and i just don't see it every dying out. President Johnson officially started the war on poverty in the early 60's and currently, our economy is no better off than it was back then. Poverty will live forever.

Actually the wealthier you are the cheaper things are- besides the IRS has looked into this and found that a good amount of the wealthy have always hidden their assests overseas in accounts that they pay no taxes on. If the wealthiest amercians payed their full share there might not be a need for higher taxes or perhaps even higher tax brackets.
It has always struck me funny hearing the right promote the poor hardest working waelthiest people are always taking it on the chin and if you raise their taxes they will move to another part of the country or not pay their taxes- as if they would state the same thing of any common criminal. No those people should go to jail but the wealthy cheats are just being unfaily put upon!

I think that the issue we need to be focussing on right now is not what caused this recession but rather, what can be done to get out of this recession. Sure we can blame a lot of the recession on the war where our government is spending exuberant amounts of money, but pointing the finger at this point won't really help anyone. I think you do have a valid point that we are in debt because of the governments spending on defense but I also think, respectfully, that we don't need to be blaming anyone anymore because that's not really going to put our neighbors back into their homes. I really liked how you focus on the poverty level in America because it is definitely an issue that should not be around.

Of course. I see where you are coming from. I wasn't so much trying to point the finger however. I wanted to think back as to what may have cause this recession so we then do not repeat those same mistakes in the future. When something has happened to a community and disturbed it, it is always a good idea to think about what may have gone from so you can improve it in the future.

I think most of us have been stung in the same way. We have been encouraged to spend money we don't actually have. Banks and financial institutions have been throwing money at sub lenders, when the economy fails we are left with lower wages due to redundancies and overtime cuts. Interest rates rise as do most living expences, house prices deflate, and the credit we have all become accustomed to is withdrawn and we are left with huge debts, negative equity and more outgoings than we have money coming in. Bankrupty is rife and more people have to live on the breadline. We should all learn our lessons and next time we are offered a loan or credit cards we should tell them where to shove them and revert to saving and only buying what we want with cash. No cash no goods = no debt.

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.

I completely agree with you, and I definitely wasn't trying to say you were wrong in anyway so I'm sorry if it came across that way. But I think you're right, it is important to see where we started making mistakes so that they won't be repeated in future societies. I also think that it's important to figure out other ways to prevent something like this from happening again and definitely reflecting on past occurrences would help to foreshadow similar mistakes. Great ideas, and I think we should focus on trying to rebuild and regenerate now so that our economy will be even stronger for then next generation.
