It's where the wall between the bladder and the vagina stretches and weakens causing the bladder to prolapse. I googled it, and one site mentioned that it can recur, after surgery, and usually second surgery does not work as well. Which, worst case scenario patient may need a hysterectomy.

Dang DuLu, I hope she has a successful surgery and doesn't have to have that second one.

My thoughts too, after I read that. At first, I was like reading and thinking okay they just need to repair a wall - sort of/kind of
like they do with a hernia maybe. Understandable, and age/stress/
strain does cause these things to happen. No problem. Then I read about the second part and went YIKES!

Its very very common and they do surgical repair every day. Its worth seeing if she can get a specialist Urogynaecologist with a high success rate.

Although any gynaecologist is qualified to do the surgery I recommend to our patients they attend a specific hospital which specialises in this surgery.

Do a little research and see if the insurance company will allow her to go to a specialist hospital with a high success rate.

This is excellent advice. Our insurance in the states can be pretty difficult; hopefully hers is good. It's worth it to really research drs. Making sure you have the best is worth a little extra money and time.

Best wishes to her, this sounds very unpleasant.
