It's a ray of some kind, it's probably just a rare species or something that some idiot found and misinterpreted as a mermaid but clearly from the tail it's a ray.

That's exactly what I told her, that and its a stingray flipped over..She's very gullible and I'm very skeptical..

I've seen a few flatfish, my Dad is a filleter and i used to go to work with him a lot, the tail is identical.
besides weren't mermaids supposed to look remotely human?

I agree to that, but also if it is aliens they could have a different language. So that could mean something to them that it doesn't to us.
But listen to me rant, it was probably faked.
