A very interesting post. I am grateful for the time you spent to write it, not to mention inspired. It's actually the first time in my life I've discussed interspecies sharing where squirrels were concerned and your reply gives me food for thought.

One thing I abseloutly think is silly are cats using weapons. Their limbs might be adapted to use them, but not having proper digits they'd have to be surgically altered to hold them and that would severely hamper their agility.

I'd say so. Imagine a microexplosive hitting you in the ankle and putting you in the position to have surgery in order to correct the injury, which might or might not heal properly. Think of a sniper bullet that gets in your eye and blinds you. The risk of these kind of situations is worsened by the smaller nature of the firearms.
