Well, a writer by the name of Shaun Ryan says it. He's in my private web office at American Zoetrope which has 300 writers, editors (small-press), poets and artists. Everybody posts their publishing acceptances as YIPPIES for ezines, anthologies and print. Shaun is one of the most talented writers in my office.
wow. well, he's right on the money. know any talent agents? i'd love to publish something, but i don't know anything about the process.
are you a writer?

That's an incomplete list of my publishing credits/acceptances. I know a little bit about writing. I can steer you into getting published, but it's hard work. My web office is full of writers who genuinely tear the work of each other apart, not to be mean, but to make it stronger in order that it might get published. There's a YIPPIE almost everyday there; people getting into some free ezine or semi-pro paying magazine.
Edit the hell out of your story. Then find a place to send it through www.duotrope.com. Don't worry about rejections (everybody gets TONS of those). And if you need any help, let me know.

Poetry is a hard sale because everybody's doing it. Most poets have to break into ezines, print magazines, etc. Then, when they've gotten into enough of them, they take all their published poems and put them into what's called a chapbook. I'm not a poet, per se. I do poems, but I consider myself a writer. But this is the normal process. Poetry is so subjective, and editors from various publications publish different styles, forms, etc. Still, you can use www.duotrope.com to find publications that do literary stories (most of those accept poetry). You can also join www.editred.com as a poet. That website has function to look up poetry journals, too.

I honestly think that no matter what level any poet/writer is, a peer group can critique it to make it better. Most people do not like to have their work critiqued because it hurts (at first). Personally, I've gotten past that, for whatever doesn't kill us only makes us stronger.
Why don't you PM me your 3 best poems (what you consider your best poems). Knowing that I'm not a poet, I'll give you honest advice. Jazz here at TFS does quite a bit of poetry. Also, I have my own poetry editor at www.Liquid-Imagination.com. We only do fantasy/horror poetry, but she might have time to read yours over and give you some honest feedback (she's a sweetie).

He's new, he wouldn't know Jazz is Readsalot, but she's about to make hers into a big bonfire.Just teasing, I've gained 5 lbs of thick skin at zoetrope.

One thorn of experience is worth a whole wilderness of warning.

I loved that so.
Are you quite sure you are just 17?!!
My thoughts exactly, anyone who can write that well at 17 is destined for fame as a writer. | | |

i hope so. I didn't even know I was that good until a few days ago. I always loved writing, but I didn't think anything of it. One day, I wrote a poem for English class, and my teacher started crying. She said it was good and wanted me to try to write some more. So...I joined the forum site, wrote some poetry, and waited for feedback. Well...I got it.
