I think so much pressure has built up along that section of the fault line its releasing all its energy in various increments. We had our second tsunami warning in a week yesterday, although we weren't threatened majorly in either of them its still pretty close to home.

New Zealand had a 7.8 earthquake back in July.
Andaman Islands (Indonesia) 7.5 in early August.
Kepulauan Mentawai (Indonesia) 6.6 in mid August.
Banda Sea (Indonesia) 6.8 on August 28th.
First Samoan Earthquake 6.6 on August 30th.
Off the coast of Java 7.0 September 2nd.
Second Samoan Earthquake 8.0 September 29th.
Southern Sumatra 7.6 September 30.
Vanuatu 7.6 October 7th.
Vanuatu 7.8 October 7th.

It is particularly odd that only hours before the Vanuatu earthquakes scientists had concluded that the Pacific and the Indo-Australian plates hadn't actually fully released from the activity experienced the week before and there still was an enormous amount of stress within them. Its certainly been active along this fault currently i'm sure once the plates are released though (wonder if the earthquakes yesterday actually released them) it would probably remain fairly calm down here for a period of time.

-oh yes: Main event earthquakes determined by me but retrieved off the USGS website

Seems like natural disasters of all kinds have been occuring more frequently than usual. Could be a fluke or sign of a climate change or sign of something worse. Personally, I'm not sure yet. I do fear it would be the very beginning of the end of times. We'll just have to wait and see.

No one knows just how much more pressure there is left to be released from these plates, or what the possible flow on effects of these plates moving have on other plates that may get released. Who knows it won't be the end of the world, but should one hit a location where a city is nearby, as usual it certainly won't be pretty.

They once said a big one should happen in Missouri one time, and it never did.
