He astonished audiences and demolished other guitarists with his audacious exploration of the instrument's outer-limits possibilities.
Chas Chandler, bassist for the Animals "discovered" Hendrix in Greenwich Village and brought him back to London to create The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Hendrix's breakthrough Monterey Pop performed to the Headlining spot at Woodstock, where HIS ANGUISHED, WORDLESS VERSION OF "THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER" FOREVER CHANGED THE NATIONAL ANTHEM Hendrix's guitar pyrotechnics and songwriting skills were matched only by his flamboyant personal style- as Grace Slick put it "If any musician represented that era it was Jimi.

Don't shoot me I wasn't a fan, but that doesn't mean I don't admire talent. He was a little too much for me. I had to get used to it to appreciate it, it was a new era.
This broke a lot of people's hearts.
