Hi guys
If you are interested in performing arts don’t feel dumbfounded by the economy at the moment because apparently this is actually the only field in London that is showing growth. Pack up and move to London!!!
Sales at the box offices at the West End has increased with 3pc or something since the previous 12 months.
I think most places will still do well and not only the West End, seeing as people cant go on holiday anymore they rather opt for something cultivating.

Cheers
Jeanne

It's the same here.
Broadway is expected to have it's first BILLION dollar opening season in history this autumn.

What, so some people are struggling to pay bills yet they can find the money to go to the theatre?

Sounds a bit odd but fair enough, the theatre is a good past time if you can afford it.

People who would normally take a week off and fly off to another country on a holiday are opting to stay closer to home, take shorter vacations and indulge on something like theater tickets.
You can get a room in a four star hotel in NYC for $99 a night on the weekends now, because they're hurting for tourists, and would rather make less money and have the rooms full, than make no money and have them empty.

People don’t have money for dinner and a movie anymore and just going to the movies isn’t enough of an outing so now they opt for theatre.

And I agree with you boxerdc, it’s the first time in years that people in the US and UK invest travelling money in their own country and the hotel rates are extremely low to encourage this.

I don’t know about NYC but because London is also hosting the Olympic Games in 2012, the property sector in the West End has also picked up and it is doing extremely well especially for retail and restaurants.

London jobs in West End will definitely benefit from it and people with bucks to invest (unfair!) should definitely invest in property here!!!
