I finally figure out how to download youtube clips and for some reason quicktime does not recognize the format they are in. Do I need to download a newer vesion of Quicktime. What should I be opening them with? How do I know what format they are in?

I tried playing this one

I am not sure why I have an O in front of the http. I just copied the URL.

Chances are, the videos that you have downloaded are .flv files which are a Flash format. There are many programs around to play these files. I personally use WinAmp.

I am experimenting with real player now. I tried the first suggestion I got but I was having serious problems with that laptop since I download limewire. I actually need to take that laptop, which is my work laptop, into a computer shop.

So, I am using my new laptop with Windows Vista which I have ignored for a year. It is a tablet . . . HP. The keyboard felt odd at first so I did not use it. Plus my work computer has photoshop and creative suite which I really like.

Limewire is a piece of s***, i seriously recommend you learn to use torrents or warez to get music or whatever you download. Limewire is terrible for the simple reason there are no comments on the media which makes it almost impossible to verify if what you're downloading is genuine. also, you can download whole albums and even whole discographies from that which i previously mentioned.

but on to the subject of media players
Try the following:
link [www.videolan.org]
link [www.winamp.com]
Two which are well known and very good.
That's if what you have now doesn't work

and yeah not liking a keyboard is the weirdest reason i have ever heard to stop using a laptop
I need to use a s***ty acer keyboard that came with my computer right now but i still use it

I think limewire screwed up my work laptop in a big way.

You are male and have strong fingers. The feel of the keyboard matters a lot to me but most of all I really liked the Adobe software I had loaded on my other laptop.

I use KeepVid (http://www.keepvid.com) to download YouTube videos. Go to the site, and paste the address of the video in the bar where it says to, click DOWNLOAD, the select MP4. Quicktime will recognize it and play it. If you want to simplify it though, use a converter to convert MP4 to WMV. The you can watch it in Windows Media Player. Make sure you have the DivX Codecs though. Good Luck!!

I may just try that because I am so pissed of with realplayer right now. It has become an obsession with me trying to get the thing to burn. It did for a while. Now it is screwed and I am
