I agree with Madonna. Not a huge fan, but she is the biggest female icon, like ever.

I don't consider her pop though. She is one of my faves though

Older? Turner is a music Icon. Britney a wiggler who really can't sing.
Madonna, I'm not a fan, but she's far from old.

Turner is. She's been around longer than Madonna has been to because of the Ike Turner Review. Little miss Ida May, who would have thought.

Tiny Turner should be a hero to all women EVERYWHERE!!!

Madonna has certainly shown us a good time. She's diverse and can act.(too bad her movies suck) She can sing for real, is not tuned up by today's modern technology. Her reinventions of herself have kept the public's interest. Fan or not, I give credit where credit is due.

I'm surprised no one ever mentioned Cher.

I agree. Madonna is clearly pop, others I'm not so sure about.
I think this is why Elvis fans get so worked up over MJ being called the King of Pop unnecessarily. Elvis was never a pop music artist.

It does seem like the women fade from the limelight. There are a lot of old women performers who were really great in their day (Tina Turner, Madonna, Brittney Spears) and while they are still performing, people don't rave over them the way they used to.

Sorry Robin, wrong person.
Tina Turner is an ageless icon who is still going strong.
Madonna has offended many Americans but she's probably still the Queen
Brittany is a kid.
Paying your dues means a lot in show business and the young have just begun.
I think of Cher,too.
Whitney Houston away from Bobby Brown , has her act together. She's incredible.

Beyonce, Kylie Minoque and the likes have to put in a lot more time to prove their staying power.
Old women performers left my eyes spinning- how rude. I wish I had Tina Turner's legs and Madonna's figure, Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Britney old, I can't help it.

Performing Arts question: Who is the Queen of Pop? Madonna is usually referred to as the queen of pop. She is estimated in 2006 to have sold more than 200.

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, mainly cos I despise the woman but Mariah carey should get a mention as she has been around a very long time, though she doesn't deserve the title, mainly cos she's a waste of good oxygen

I'm not a huge fan of Madonna, but I always thought she was queen of pop music.
