here's one.

here's a lighter article mentioning it.

I don't think there is much consensus that vitamin d is the cure for all flu symptoms like this guy suggested in that article.

Hmm,
Fair enough, I don't claim to know any more than the recommendations regarding it, they've always served me well enough.

I have seen studies that suggested negative effects of vitamin d at large doses.

No doubt, just about anything at high enough doses can be detrimental. The current guidelines do need to be revised greatly though, as far as vitamin D goes. I mean, just from a logical stand point, we evolved naked, in the open sun. 20 minutes in the open sun makes your skin produce 20,000IU of vitamin D. And yet we're to believe that 2000IU is somehow dangerous? By what logic?

I never said I believed Dr. Mercola, I just posted it because I thought it was interesting. At any rate, no problem:

Ok, fair enough. but the way that you're coming across here sounds like you believe what he is saying and remember that people reading it might take it as fact because there is speculation enough about it on here already and he is backing them up on it

I didn't mean to come across like that, I was just correcting info about vitamin d itself, not saying it is or isn't a treatment for a flu.

Yeah I know. There's a lot of times where I come across wrong too. It's harder to get a point across online because in person a lot of it depends on your tone of voice, body language etc and that's just not there here.

Interesting stuff,
Of course we're getting quite a bit of vitamin d as is generally.

In any case i think recommending avoiding vaccination for a potentially deadly illness and taking vitamin pills instead is highly irresponsible.

Yeah. This guys against all vaccines from what I've found. He just wants the return of polio, measles, ruebella, mumps etc. I've had the watered-down versions of measles and mumps and they were unpleasant enough. Can you imagine never having been vaccinated

Don't mega dose on ANY vitamin. What the body can't use, it will just eliminate, although I have heard that over doing on some will have some weird side effects. I think it's D that will turn your skin orange.
C is the vitamin that is supposed to help ward off viral infections.

To me I just don't get why we do not hear how terrible the regular flu is. IT certainly kills more people that the swine flu does.

No, it's Beta Carotene that turns your skin orange. Vitamin D doesn't have any side effects, even in large doses. Vitamin C in large doses will give diarrhea. Pure ascorbic acid in large doses can induce miscarriages. But it doesn't if you take it with bioflavinoids.
