Anyone know a good site that has a list of classic french songs from quebec.
From 50s,60s and 70s I can understand french and read it I left montreal at age 9 and though listening to french music could help me keep my first language.
So far I only have two songs the singing nun and leco'l a fini can't spell it.

Do you want a list of classic québécois songs or do you actually want to listen to them. I could give you a list of a few radio stations but not sure where you live - oh I guess that really doesn't matter where you live - you can always listen to the songs on their website. Let me know if you have a preference. A lot of stations will also play French, québécois and will mix some English ones in there too.

I found radio stations I was hopping for a list of songs I can look at on you tube to see which I remember or like.
Mama etain la lumier im gonna look for that one I just remembered it and renee Simard I listened to my old records and well he don't sound as good as I remember but then with digital music it all sounds better than records.
I also have the original singing nun record when it first came out it was my moms.

My search words are "quebec 60s 70s francais chanson list" still looking.

I'm really not familiar with Maman éteint la lumière?!? But don't waste your time with René Simard - he's passé. His sister Nathalie's latest CD is pretty good. If you like rock there's a good band called La Chicane (who are no longer together). You can get a good feel of the québécois language in their songs plus great lyrics. There is also France D'Amour, Kevin Parent, Boom Desjardins. For older bands: Garoulou, Beau Dommage, Offenbach to name a few. There are so many....Have fun.

I was in Katimavik in the early 80's and had a very pleasant exposure to lots of Quebeqois music and Franco-Ontarian music as well. Harmonium by far being the most popular, but i also loved listening to Fiori-Seguin, Edith Butler, Lougarou/Garoulou, Richard A Seguin, Zachary Richard, and local Montreal/Quebec City talent, too. Outdoor concerts in parks with a nice bottle of wine... don't know if you can do that anymore in Quebec.

If i remember any more, i'll post them.

Salut

Hmmm, I've been lingering here, listening,.... I was going to say, there is a big difference between the Québecoise and the French,....

Funny you should have mentioned it, but I must also be an old-timer, since I still enjoy all of Mouscouri's recordings (especially in German)!
