I'm so excited spring's just about here. I'm putting my bf to work to dig up some beds for me. I plan on trying out some herbs this year. And of course I have my usual snapdragons, elephant ears and coleus. I'm going to try morning glories again - I never have luck with those.

Ugh, see I used to be that way. I'd work outside all day in my own little world. But I haven't been as into it anymore. I'm going to force myself this year to get more involved. I think if I had more room to plant, I'd be more motivated. I mean face it, digging up grass sucks lol.

I used to start indoors with grow lights and everything. But I've since sown directly outdoors with pretty good success. I think I'm going to do the same this year. I do still have trays - maybe I can plant them in the trays and leave them outside. The grow lights were a real hassle for me.

I did tomatoes for the first time last year with huge success. What else do you plant?

I want to do Canna's... but I don't know... it's been a few years since I have gardened any so I'm scared it's going to be a disaster!

Never did cannas. But from what I hear, they're easy. And they multiply like crazy over the years.

I forgot I got callas too. Those are my favorite flowers. I got white and multi-colored. Hopefully they'll do well. My last batch of white callas didn't do well. Think it was due to crappy soil.

I have started to germinate my long season crop seeds, tomatoes, leeks, and peanuts, I have also started some lettuce and swiss chard to be grown in a hotbed. There is still a foot of snow on the ground but the daytime highs are well above freezing.

Man, it was like zen time for me and the earth lol. And I'm hoping I get there again! Don't know if they have these places in your areas, but I had great luck at Big Lots and various dollar stores finding stuff to decorate. No, not gaudy yard art - just little things here and there like galvanized buckets and such.

My tomatoes were out of control last year! I couldn't keep up with them! Mainly the cherry tomatoes. There were hundreds, I swear.

I learned elephant ears can be grown as houseplants. So I planted a mammoth bulb inside today. Didn't do anything outside yet. And I'm glad I didn't because we're having a hard freeze here soon.

I keep my herbs in pots so that I can bring them in for winter. Fresh herbs can't be beat! Next weekend the geraniums go back outside, and I'll dig in some good rich manure and get ready for planting. My tomatoes last year were a bust, I somehow got a bunch of miniature Roma bedding plants instead of the full size ones. I think it was the nursery's fault, myself. I have lots of crocuses, snowdrops, grape hyacinths, and even a couple of daffodils already in bloom in the flower beds.

edit: I have been trying to kill the morning glories in my yard for the last five years, they are trying to take over everything! They are pretty, but sure are a pest!

I'm going to plant all my herbs in pots too. I'm really excited about those.

The daffodils are already dying off here. lol@zones.
