I am HIV+ and was initially excited about this when I first heard about it - however the odds of this happening for all of us is extremely slim
The man had to be matched for a bone marrow transplant - and then essentially all of his CD4 cells are destroyed which comes with the possibility of death for those who aren't strong enough. After that, there's still no guarantee that all of the HIV has been eradicated
I just hope that perhaps, if anything, this expands scientists' options as to where to look.
