I think Iron Man was fairly well done compared to some of the recent comic book movie offerings. The acting was competent, the effects were impressive, and the story was interesting for the most part.

It had the typical superhero movie annoyance of having to see the whole back story and where Iron Man came from. They also kinda downplayed the whole alcoholism thing, but they were probably saving that for the second movie. It seems every character has to have some major life turmoil in the second movie.

Still, I really like that they didn't use the main rival in the first movie. It really bugs me when they waste half a movie just developing the super hero, then throw the best villain at the hero in the second half. Its such a waste. I don't want to ruin the ending, but it done in a way to leave lots of options in the sequels.

I haven't seen it yet but my friends told me that it was awesome...I think I'll see it this weekend..
