Do me a favor and tell me that the world will get better. Tell me that it doesn't matter. Tell me that you love me. Tell me that you need me. Tell me that you know me. Lie to me.

Just one small favor and say that it's not really happening. That people aren't hungry in the streets. That parents aren't killing their own children. That we aren't on the verge of destroying the world. Just lie.

Even as a lie, these words are beautiful. Even as lies, these words are my sweet nothings. Even though they are lies, I will believe them simply because I want to.

But then I will wake up and the illusion will fade. Reality will hit. I will go outside and the world will be at my feet, alive and dead at the same time.
