Can anyone define the difference between pop and rock.

pop has changed over time. You can't call one song the best song ever. There are definitely different ages in the pop genre, and you can pick the best pop song in each age.

well given that pop means popular music, rock can be pop... pop is whatever the masses will lap up strictly speaking. I personally use the term pop to refer to a style of music that is accessible and catchy... it can be as heavy or light, fast or slow, dark or cheery as you like. As long as it hits those two things, then for me that is pop.

Pop is upbeat that is common to the music lovers while Rock mostly composes of a band. Sometimes the genre changed into Pop Rock, a combination of pop and rock.
