Just a question. Is it true that New York has a variety of different fun and recreational places to go to, or is it all just business centered? The reason that I asked that was because sometime far in the future I am considering going there on vacation, after Hawaii that is. Another thing, is it as dangerous and over-crowded as people say? Like say you are walking down a street in a crowd full of people and some one just comes up and stabs you for no apparent reason. This is what I was told but I believe that the person was over exaggerating. Is it a safe place to tour?

I went to New York City a few years ago on a school trip, it was awesome. I loved it and can't wait to go back. There's so much to do, Times Square is amazing. It can be dangerous, but there aren't people walking around whipping out guns every two seconds.

New York City is a boatload of fun. There's so much to do and see there.

They say that if you spend a day in New York, you can see all you wanted to see. If you spend a week there, you can see half of what you want to see. If you spend a month there, you can hardly see anything you want to see.

The longer you stay there, the more layers you uncover and the more fascinating and fun the city gets.

It's also very, very safe. Street crime has been cut down tremendously since the bad ol days. Probably much safer than Birmingham, all told.

I'd imagine it'd be just as dangerous as any large city anywhere. I'd feel safe going there

Pretty much what the others have said. And about the safety issue, it's hard to walk one block without seeing a police officer. They are all over the place.

You love it. You know you do.

I've never been there but i feel so connected to the place, i do want to move there someday, i think it would be awesome. I saw on the news a while back it said NYC was one of the worlds safest cities.

GO NEW YORK!!

No one ever thinks about Canada's "New York"...Toronto!

I've only been once and it was pretty cool (the ferry scared the hell out of me though )

Everyone I have talked to that has been there said they didn't like it. (Besides all of you) Now I've heard some good things I guess.
But everyone says that people are kinda asses there and it's too populated.

New York is incredible! So much to see and do. It's a lot to take in. Last time I was there my girlfriend and I got pictures taken with the greasy Naked Cowboy and Elvis Saw a wedding in Central Park, and Angela Lansbury on Broadway and purses...OMG the fake designer purses are great! I love NY.

I've gone into the city 3 times in the past 2 weeks lol. I guess the whole fun tourism aspect of it for me isn't there since I've always lived a 30 minute train ride from NYC and go there frequently.

But there is tons to do. Plenty of shows, musuems, etc.. and lots of chances to buy fake designer bags for $10 - $20 lol.
