The scroll wheel on my mouse has just decided to randomly switch between scrolling the page and making the text bigger/smaller, then I closed Firefox and tried to reopen it to see if it made it better and everytime I clicked on the quick start icon, the shortcut properties kept on popping up instead of Firefox! Also when I click on any link it opens that link in a new tab, it never used to do that unless the link was in a post!
IE works fine!

Sounds to me like the CTRL button on your keyboard is either stuck, malfunctioning, or something is sitting on it.

Sometimes that just happens. Usually if you just tap the offending button (or, if you're not sure which, just tap CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT all in sequence) it'll stop.

Having "sticky keys" enabled could also have the same effect. A single push of ctrl would be read as holding it down until it's pushed again.
