I love making cakes more than anything in the world, and I like playing around with them, being creative, and making up my own "recipes." I've got an idea rolling around in my head, but I'd need to fill the (cup)cake with something, like pudding, or the cream that you find in french horns. Any ideas how I can do this? I'd like to avoid halving the cake if possible. If I would have to half it, how can I keep it to a minimum, or hide it?

The idea would be like a Hostess filled chocolate cupcake.

Bake them and you could put filling in them using a decorating frosting bag and a small writing point.

Really all you need is a pastry injector.

Well, the pastry injector, in my mind's eye, wouldn't allow for very much cream> The link usa gave me tells you to cut a cone out of the top of the cupcake, fill the center with cream, cut off the point of the cone, and replace the flat top. That's the kind of idea I was looking for. If there's a way to do it for a round cake, that'd be awesome, too. I can always just make a bunch of little cone-shaped holes, lol, but I'll play around with the same concept, likely, and try cutting out a very shallow cone.

if u want to know how to fill the cakes... u cut a cylindrical peice out of the top (or one of the sides) put as much icing as u want {or as much as possible} then cut one end off of the cylinder and replace the small end on top of the cake. then put frosting on top if wanted. then it doesnt look like u did it.... or u could find a small metal bowl to put on the cake batter while baking. and make a top that is the same size as the other. and bake it. the put the frosting in the indented part of the one half that had the metal bowl in it {remove the metal bowl first} then put the other half of it on top and frost the cake.... thats how i do it for my nephew's birthdays if he wants ice cream in the middle. and it works perfectly!!

You can always take the cake apart from the bottom side. (this how I do it)

Flip the cake over cut the area of the cake you want to fill out. Once you've filled it use a slice of what you've cut out to make the bottom whole again, invert on your cake pan and the decorate normally.
