What your personal opinion on immigrant workers??

Out of the CV/Resumes I see everyday pretty much lately they have become all foreign candidates. Mostly from the east EU or from India. Most of them are not that good in all honesty in skills and education but.. they have one thing over the UK counter parts they apply for jobs and when they get them they do it well... however.. they do bring down average salaries which can cause frustration among the UK Job seekers..

But we got to look at the bigger wider picture here.. We are not breeding enough to support the aging population... we are not filling the skilled jobs..

Is it the cost of living is it the educational/skill level in this country? or does all the problems with this country contribute to Immigrant increase? ie poor immigration management etc? or do we really need these people? are we getting lazy? is the benefits cla** arses getting bigger...?? is it easy to find a job?
What is your thoughts on the whole matter...??

Nothing has turned out as we expected. It never does. Life's under no obligation to give us what we expect. We take what we get and are thankful it's no worse than it is.

I think immigration is good to a degree. I enjoy a diverse culture and I think there are jobs that need doing and if people in the UK won't do them why deny others.

What I don't agree with is the lax approach we have to immigration. It should be something that is selective not something that allows thousands of people to flood our borders without bringing anything to the country.

I think a recent story sums it up: A canadian woman has married an english man serving in the armed forces. Just after they married they moved to Germany and had 2 sons together. His regiment got moved back to the UK which was all good until our government decide to not give her residency. She has now had to move to Spain to try and apply again leaving her sons and husband behind. The italian who killed a british national however can't be deported because "it breaches his human right to a family life" - Seems wrong to me!

I saw "immigrant workers" and thought of field hands, house help, etc. That's what springs to mind here in the US when you hear immigrant workers. They do the jobs no one else wants to do and do it for less pay. If they all left, we'd be screwed.

If your name is on the guest list, no one can take you higher.

Canada has over 250 different ethnic groups working in the county. I think
diversity is good. If Canadian are too lazy to go out and work a job that an
immigrant wants, I say smarten up! As for the impact on society as a whole, we
in Canada are all really just immigrants, maybe a number of generations ago,
but it hasn't killed off our countries well being, economy or status in the world
community, if anything we are know as a pretty tolerant country.

Unintelligible!

---thats the problem, to many ethnic groups now makes it hard for Canadians to find work!

I think that we should make it legal for them to work here, as long as they aren't getting paid for it. That would make the Unitedar Stàtos de México a much better place.

Yeah, but the people living in Canadia are immigrants. We're experiencing an alien invasion here, and our president seems to be enjoying it. Now that's just sick.

They don't just do the jobs that no one wants. Getting a job at any factory where I live is near impossible because immigrants, mainly central americans, drive wages down and take jobs.

We're starting to feel the pinch of immigrant workers more and more in the skilled fields of construction to. Just the other day I heard about plumbers electricians and drywallmen who were under bid because the competition used lowpayed immigrant workers.

EARTH FIRST! We'll strip-mine the other planets later.

I watched an interesting program not that long ago about polish immigrants in the UK. They were taking the job of working in fields for £7 an hour, which isn't too bad, in a town. When the reporter asked the English people in that town about the immigrants, not only did they not realise the job paid that much, they also turned up their noses at it!

So that's the joke. A lot of people complain about immigrants taking all the jobs, but when there are jobs out there, they don't want to go for them because the require manual labour. Instead, they would rather collect benefits, which don't always come to that much money, and sit on their asses all day!

I full support immigration. There are a lot of people who come to this country, and others, and do something for the people and economy. Also, with records of people leaving the UK to live in Australia and the US, it would be a bit hypocritical for us to be against immigration, in my opinion.

They're still screwing our economy over, no matter what kind of crap jobs they fill. There's just way too many of them. It brings up our poverty rate and down our happiness and dignity. My great grand pa-pa immigrated from Poland, but now we're American. Mexicans... no. They're still Mexicans coming into our country, bringing their culture, their language, and mmmm their food too, but we can make our own Mexican food! That is the difference between an immigration and an invasion, no ìngles is not an excuse!

True but the major issue is the government bringing in skilled workers from EE countries, such as Architects, and not training young British kids in these fields. I think we need to invest in home grown eduction and apprenticeships rather than bring in EE and non-EU workers.

No country would 'need' an immigrant work force, and no worker would feel the 'need' to emmigrate, if the people of the world would be able to have and maintain a world economy. The only reason the poor Mexican, for example, decides to break the law and come to the US illegally, is that in his own country, he cannot earn enough to care for his family. The same has been true (for the most part) for those from India and regions of North Africa who have been trying to enter the work forces in Europe. The motivation has always been the same -- "We can be better off, somewhere else."
